'Unity and Prophethood Symposium' was held

"Symposium on Tawhid and Prophethood" organized by the Turkish Sufi Music and Folklore Research and Survival Foundation and Marmara University Islamic Thought Studies Application and Research Center was held.

The symposium, which began with opening speeches and sessions in the morning at the 1071 Congress and Event Hall in the Büyük Çamlıca Mosque , continued in the afternoon with sessions titled "The Problem of Reconstructing Theory Between Continuity and Change", "Metaphysical Violence and Islamic Philosophy", "Islamic Institutions in Terms of Sustainability, Justice and Inclusiveness" and "Universality of Tawhid and Prophethood in Terms of Contemporary Philosophy: Possibilities and Challenges".

Bursa Uludag University, Faculty of Theology, Department of Basic Islamic Sciences, Lecturer Prof. Dr. Abdurrezzak Tek's In his presentation at the session titled "The Problem of Reconstructing Theory Between Continuity and Change" moderated by İstanbul Medeniyet University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İbrahim Halil Üçer, Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Istanbul Medeniyet University, touched upon the fact that theoretical structures constructed throughout the tradition of Islamic thought were cast under suspicion by new scientific theories starting in the 16th century, and noted that this caused a crisis of suspicion in the second half of the 19th century and that this tendency continues today without a comprehensive solution.

Üçer examined the problems caused by this crisis at the level of knowledge, existence and morality, and in his effort to overcome the crises caused by the understandings that built the modern world, he focused on the principles that the Islamic thought tradition accepted as the starting point and the ways of reconstructing Islamic theory.

Following Üçer's presentation, 29 Mayıs University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Philosophy, Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ayhan Çitil and 19 Mayıs University, Faculty of Theology, Department of Philosophy and Religious Sciences, Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Burhanettin Tatar gave speeches as negotiators.

"The optimistic perception of reason offered by the Quran"

titled "Metaphysical Violence and Islamic Philosophy" moderated by Prof. Dr. Habip Türker, Faculty Member of the Philosophy Department of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Gaziantep University, Dr. Selami Varlık, Faculty Member of the Philosophy Department of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of 29 Mayıs University, made a presentation and compared the Christian presuppositions of Western metaphysical criticism with the basic principles of classical Islamic philosophy.

Heidegger and some post- Heidegger philosophers towards metaphysics focused on the identification of metaphysics with a certain form of violence, and drew attention to the fact that the metaphysical understanding of Islamic philosophy is based on the optimistic perception of reason presented by the Quran.

Following Varlık's presentation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Uğurlu, faculty member of the Philosophy Department of the Faculty of Theology at İzzet Baysal University, and Prof. Dr. Recep Alpyağıl , faculty member of the Philosophy and Religion Department of the Faculty of Theology at Istanbul University , delivered speeches.

Presenting a paper at the session titled "Institutions Originating from Islam in Terms of Sustainability, Justice and Inclusiveness" moderated by Kartal Anatolian Imam Hatip High School Principal Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özkan Öztürk, Istanbul Civilization University, Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Department of Islamic Law, Prof. Dr. Hasan Tuncay Başoğlu examined the connection between the institutions embodied in the civilizational manifestation of Islam as the initiator of a new era transforming human history and the Islamic faith and lifestyle, and addressed the question of whether theories developed based on monotheism and prophethood were embodied.

Following Başoğlu's presentation, Marmara University Faculty of Theology, Department of Islamic Law, Associate Professor Dr. Nail Okuyucu and Marmara University Faculty of Theology, Department of Islamic History, Associate Professor Dr. Harun Yılmaz each made speeches.

"Theories of God and Prophethood in Islamic Thought"

In the session titled " Universality of Tawhid and Prophethood in Terms of Contemporary Philosophy: Possibilities and Difficulties" moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Nedim Tan, Department of Fundamental Islamic Sciences, Faculty of Theology, Marmara University, Prof. Dr. Yunus Cengiz, Department of Philosophy, Department of Philosophy, Mardin Artuklu University, made a presentation and pointed out the possibilities and difficulties of incorporating theories on Tawhid and Prophethood produced in Islamic thought into the activity of philosophizing today .

Cengiz explained the general structure of the theories developed in classical Islamic thought about the universality and comprehensiveness of monotheism and prophethood, the language and basic arguments used in the theories, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the theories.

deconstructive and reconstructive approach can be brought to both classical and modern texts in order for these theories to gain a position in contemporary philosophy and participate in discussions .

Following Cengiz's presentation, Ibn Haldun University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of Philosophy, Associate Professor Dr. Enis Doko gave a speech.

After the family photo was taken, Ahmet Özhan, the President of the Turkish Sufi Music and Folklore Research and Survival Foundation, made the closing speech and said that they wanted to organize the next event under the title of "Islamic Aesthetics" by examining it in a conference format and getting to the core of the issue.

The symposium, which was attended by academics from universities in different cities of Turkey, as well as students and citizens, ended with a Sufi music concert titled "Let Our Language Be Tevhid " given by the Executive Board of the Turkish Sufi Music and Folklore Research and Survival Foundation, conducted by ney player and composer Mustafa Hakan Alvan .
